Eligible independent ag retailers were invited to partner with a local charitable organization and enter a local project that impacted a need in the area of Mental Health, Hunger, Education, or Community Spirit.

Four regional winners were awarded $10,000 from WinField United Canada. Via public voting, one received an additional grand prize of $20,000 for a total of $30,000 towards their community project.

Sturgeon Valley Fertilizers Ltd. (Legal, AB) 

The Sturgeon Valley Fertilizers Arena & Curling Rink in Legal, Alberta is undergoing a rebuild and retrofit which will include the new feature of a Sledge Hockey ice surface! SVF alongside Legal Lion’s Club are supporting upgrades that not only provide an elevated space for traditional sports but will also embrace the spirit of accessibility and community involvement.  

Sledge Hockey is an adaptive sport for individuals with physical disabilities, allowing them to enjoy hockey using specialized sledges. By incorporating Sledge Hockey into the facility's offerings, the aim is to support a diverse range of activities that cater to all members of the community. The new Sledge Hockey ice surface will be designed specifically for the sport, catering to players' specific needs and ensuring accessibility and ease of movement.  

Sturgeon Valley Fertilizers is thrilled to partner with Legal Lions Club on this arena revamp, ensuring it remains a vital hub that welcomes everyone! This collaboration underscores our commitment to enhancing the new arena and ensuring it meets the diverse needs of our community and surrounding area. The inclusion of Sledge Hockey will not only enrich the facility's programs but also promote a greater sense of inclusivity, well-being, and community spirit!

ProSoils and the School Community Council in Rose Valley are joining forces to bring a brand-new playground to our community! The town’s only playground, which has been around for 25 years, is in dire need of an upgrade. ProSoils has already kickstarted the new playground with some fundraising, and now this is where Raise the Barn comes in! The funds raised for the new playground will help create a wonderful space that supports mental health and provides a safe haven for families in the community. At ProSoils, we value community projects like this because they lay the foundation for improving the lives of Rose Valley residents. We believe these initiatives help build strong, diverse communities that can attract and retain talent, foster business growth, and tackle any challenges that arise.

Rural Counselling Services

Rural Counselling Services

Redfern Farm Services (Souris, MB)

RedFern Farm Services is teaming up with the Westman Mental Wellness and Suicide Prevention Association to bring much-needed counselling support to our community. With wait times to see mental health professionals stretching up to six months, it's clear that timely support is a challenge. Our initiative aims to bridge this gap by offering affordable counselling services to community members during their long wait times for mental health professionals. The Westman Mental Wellness and Suicide Prevention Association will provide a counsellor available for weekly sessions for those referred to Manitoba Community Mental Health by their healthcare professional but have extended wait periods for their appointment. The counsellor will support patients throughout the waiting period until they can access funded community programs. The funding from the Raise the Barn contest will go towards patient sessions, counselling professionals, and boosting community mental health awareness and education. We believe that a community thrives when everyone participates and feels valued. Everyone deserves a happy and fulfilling life, and Redfern Farm Services is committed to Raising the Bar in supporting our community's well-being!

Kids Feeding Kids Foodbank Support

Sylvite is proud to launch the Kids Feeding Kids Challenge in collaboration with Social Impact Games. This initiative empowers children to combat hunger through engaging, community-driven challenges that also support mental health and education. Local schools and families can participate by playing an online game where social challenges—ranging from acts of kindness to environmental stewardship— directly result in meal donations for peers in need across the 15 communities we serve. With your vote, we’ll fully fund these meal donations, giving children the opportunity to make a meaningful impact. Help us raise awareness, fight hunger, and inspire the next generation of leaders!

Prairie Mountain Elementary School’s ACSL operates a School Lunch Program that’s dedicated to serving students with wholesome, hot, and nutritious meals prepared by a team of passionate volunteers. Given the ongoing challenges of increasing food costs, supply inflation, and equipment expenses, the program works to minimize financial burdens on families. Our aim is to ensure that the School Lunch Program remains accessible and affordable for all, without making any compromises on the quality and quantity of the meals provided. Sierens Seeds Service is committed to Rasing the Bar and ensuring that every student has the opportunity to enjoy nourishing hot lunches, allowing them to thrive and learn to their fullest potential

Medstead and District Recreation Association (MADRA) proudly presents our beloved arena, the heartbeat of our community. Beyond being just a sports venue, it's where we come together, create memories, and build the spirit of our small town. However, in 2022, a major setback hit us hard – our curling rink's ice plant gave out, leading to a whole year without the joy of curling. The silence on our beloved rink is deafening, and we can't let it continue. Simplot Grower Solutions partnering with MADRA to Raise the Bar in our community means we have a chance to repair the ice plant and breathe life back into our beloved curling rink. But it's not just about sports; it's about nurturing the mental health and well-being of our residents through the therapeutic power of team and youth activities. We’re excited to revive the essence of Medstead and ensure a brighter, more vibrant future for our community!

Taber Home & Farm Centre Ltd and the Taber Food Bank have teamed up to Raise the Bar! For nine years, The Vegetable Garden has been serving up thousands of pounds of locally grown goodness, spreading smiles, and putting nutritious food on the plates of those in need in Taber and surrounding communities. But here's the twist: our garden is on the move! The Food Bank Vegetable Garden is packing its bags, uprooting, and getting ready for a fresh start in a brand-new location. It's like hitting the reset button on an incredible journey, and we couldn't be more thrilled. The garden's move promises a fresh chapter filled with renewed energy and a whole lot of excitement, although it comes with the significant endeavour of hard work and costs to ensure we keep those pounds of produce flowing in 2024. The Food Bank Vegetable Garden has been a beacon of hope, and its new beginning promises to be nothing short of amazing.

Harriston Agromart has partnered with The Grove in Palmerston, Ontario, to Raise the Bar and champion the transformative Youth Ambassador Program. Designed to enhance the mental and overall well-being of our community's youth, this initiative offers a vital one-stop-shop for young people aged 12-26, where they can access local support, mental health services, and connect with friends. Currently, the Hub in Palmerston receives between 1,000 to 1,200 visits by youth monthly. The Grove aims to improve youth access to essential support through integrated services - which means that every support a young person needs to access is available through one location with no waitlists. If a youth needs help today, they can access support today. As the pandemic has intensified mental health issues and caused extended wait times, this initiative becomes crucial in ensuring we build a resilient, supportive community that guides our youth towards a brighter future.

The Gravelbourg Cares Shuttle Service is a non-profit service that provides transportation for all ages to medical appointments in city centres.GCSS provides service to Gravelbourg and surrounding communities such as Assiniboia, Lafleche, Mossbank, Kincaid, Hazenmore, and Ponteix.

The Foremost School is planning to build a greenhouse and expand its community garden project to increase its ability to meet needs related to mental health, hunger, education and community spirit. This project has brought together community members of all ages and backgrounds and has provided a platform for education and a way to connect with the outdoors to improve mental health.

Classroom and Meeting Space for Indigenous Teachings

SJ Agronomy Services (Miami, MB)

The Miami Parent Advisory Council plans to build an outdoor classroom and meeting space that honours indigenous teachings and the pillars of reconciliation. This space will provide a place for learning, physical exercise and performing. This meeting space will also provide students and community members with indigenous heritage a safe place to learn about and practice their own culture and educate others.
